Falls Prevention Coalition

  • To develop effective, long term, measurable strategies that will reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with slips and falls in older adults.

The goal of the coalition is:

  • To provide an integrated approach to a community-wide awareness campaign about the risks and impact of falls among older adults, by working collaboratively with seniors' groups and community agencies.
  • To decrease the number of falls experienced by older adults in our community and thereby help seniors to achieve and maintain the best possible quality of life in their later years.

A Falls Prevention Checklist and Risk Assessment are available on the Thunder Bay District Health Unit web site for you personal use, to check and ensure that you are doing all you can to prevent falls in your home.
